Power Of Words Words have a lot of power. Words have the power to inspire, teach, comfort, and lift. On the other hand, words have the power to damage and demolish, agitate and irritate, chastise and condemn, disgrace and denigrate. An individual is believed to utter between 10 and 20,000 words on average each day. This means that we have a ton of opportunities each day to say something positive or bad; the option is entirely up to us. The Influence of Words Despite frequent assertions to the effect that "those are just words," it is well recognized that words have the ability to alter the course of events.
